What the convertible roof warning light means. During normal operation, the convertible roof warning light will illuminate when the roof is opening or closing. When this light shuts off, it indicates that everything has been locked down and normal driving can resume. Typically, the system will only warn the driver of a fault during startup.

It goes like this: when I press the 'open roof' button, the rear shell goes on top of the front shell as it is supposed to, and when it is time for the trunk to open, it does not. I still hear the pump working for another ~5 seconds after which the car gives up and starts flashing red light. It started a few years ago.
Very common problem. Check out the Shipkiller web site I posted above. A BMW dealer will charge you at least $3,000 to replace it and an indy shop probably anywhere from $1,600 to $2,500. 13213 posts 路 Joined 2007. #5 路 Nov 6, 2022. The red LED blinks until the top controller sees a sequence of signals from the Hall sensors that satisfy the requirements for an open or close cycle to be complete. Make certain it's the red LED and not the dark orange LED blinking.
BMW Z4 - after heavy rain, the roof will not open, the passenger airbag light is on & the indicators will not work. - BMW 2004 Z4 question TPMS RESET. Set the tire pressure on all wheels to specification. Turn ignition switch to ON position, with engine off. Press reset button (for no longer than 10 seconds) until tire pressure warning light illuminates Yellow for a few seconds. See Fig. 11, Fig. 12, Fig. 13, or Fig. 17 . Drive vehicle.

Sometimes if a box or something jostles one it will trip the safety so the top won't go down (but will still unlatch for some reason). Just raise both (so the top can't go down) then lower both and try to drop the top again. K.
