Cruise control does not activate anymore and the engine retarder keeps knocking down the speed to fast, I use a keyboard and mouse and on long trips, my "w" key finger is killing me because of this problem. The key to deactivate the retarder, as per the instruction that I get is the period key "." but this is not working. Anyone got any ideas please, Thank you

Alguém sabe como desativa o retarder? Eu sei que são três níveis, e tem a tecla padrão "ç" e outra aí que esqueci que desativa, porém, eu não consigo identificar no meu DAF XF onde eu controlo o retarder, como nos outros caminhões (fica do lado do pisca alerta, 3 níveis, onde a "marcha" fica subindo e descendo indicando o nível atual), e quando eu estou dirigindo, não consigo me

The first can be dealt with by tuning it of and checking in the Gameplay Options if Auto retarder/Engine brake is not ticked. The second is not chsngeable as that is the normal behaviour of every vehicle. I checked and they are not ticked. And it's not the second option you said, because the truck is going braked, it slows down very quickly

Euro Truck Simulator 2. Retarder caused skid! I was going about 110km/h on the highway to Poznan, and a toll was up ahead, so I put full retarder, and something that has never before happened, happened. It seems that my wheels seemed to have locked up or something, I went into a skid and hit into a roadworks barricade.
It is accurate. High-pressure air is let into the brake chamber when you depress the brake pedal. The pressure causes the brake mechanism to activate and slow the truck down. If you let the air straight out of the brake chambers before you were done braking you possibly wouldn't even have enough pressure for one complete stop.
I actually love cruise control and retarder so much and use them extensively. I adjust the cruise control step by using the mouse wheel and rely on automatic retarder (I should map the keys to a better location though) but for some reason, I've never used realistic fuel consumption with this setup. I should definitely give it a try.
