150,000 miles is pathetic in a modern car though, I'd expect that out of a Dodge Journey. Then again, luxury cars also have the limit-pushing performance and cutting-edge tech that the Dodge Journey will have 15 years from now, so it's actually kind-of impressive that they manage to get 150k miles out of what is basically a release candidate.

City cars (107 etc) - designed to work primarily in the city, occasional motorway use only. Superminis (fiesta etc) - smaller cars designed to be better all rounders while still being affordable to run. Ok for semi regular motorway trips but not optimal. C segment (golf etc) - designed to be jack of all trades.

If you have city in any comparison, just don't, city is the best. I second that. City is the most refined car of the segment. Not going to lie, the Yaris though I personally liked the drivability, is a little less wide and less premium than the city. There's something missing in that car, the city however, now that's just a beauty of a car.

Automatic transmission is a must for my family. The Yaris should be fine. You would be surprised how many of the locals drive a Yaris, even in the dead of winter. Be careful on the gravel roads and look into getting the insurance. Had the automatic yaris in april. It was excellent for the ring road.

An expensive hatch from Toyota is not gonna work . People would still but Toyota for it's long term durability and sustainability, wouldn't matter if expensive. Although it works independently, for Toyota's premium brand Lexus, they promise 500000 miles.
reliability depends on the specific one you buy, you could have an abused Yaris and a well maintained fiesta, visa / versa. here is what i would say, ,have go good look on how the car has been treated. either learn about how to examine a car, take someone knowledgeable, or get the RAC /AA to do an inspection for £100. questions to ask

Something that has sufficient cargo space and good MPG. I’ve looked at Fiat 500 and Mini Coopers, but I hear both of them are very unreliable and expensive to maintain. Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris come to mind as the smallest cars with decent cargo space and better gas efficiency, but I know some of you may also recommend a Prius or a Civic or I am a grad student so would prefer a car with good gas mileage and that is fuel efficient. I’m hoping to make some trips from Los Angeles to San Francisco (~480 miles) in the future as well. I will be meeting a private seller (FB marketplace) and seeing a 2008 Toyota Yaris S Sedan 4D later today. Just bought a Toyota Yaris for £900. I’ve just got this car its 55 plate and it’s in pristine condition. Done less than 30k miles, only had 1 owner, been serviced every year. The rear bumper has a little west on the coating but apart from that it’s in amazing condition. bAjOKpc.
